Floating in the fast rolling Sea
Nothing in the horizon from north to south, east to west
Bobbing, trying to stay a float in the cold, blue, green water
Back and forth my arms move
Up and down my body goes
Searching, scanning, and looking for something
The water is vast, deep and powerful
It wants to swallow me up
To drag me down
To pull me into its deep, deep caverns
Never to come up
My arms push back, forth
My legs kick back, forth
I look again along the horizon
There it is
A spot, the most miniscule spot
Faster I move my arms and legs
Pushing up to see if I can view more
So slowly, so very very slowly this spot grows
Faster I move my arms and legs
Now towards the spot I try to travel
The ocean fights every stroke I take
It tries and tries to pull me under
Back, forth
Faster and faster I move my arms and legs
I must, I must keep moving
The spot begins to take shape
White on the horizon
Moving every so slowly towards me
Move faster, faster I must
I see it!
For it is hope.
